Animator Raman Hui Shing-ngai has some big shoes to fill, so it is a good thing Shrek does not wear shoes. The artist will direct the next Shrek sequel that is scheduled for release in May next year. Mr Hui has been working in Hollywood since 1989, and returned briefly to Hong Kong before Christmas to promote his latest charity book, Piccolo, designed to inspire teens. Proceeds from the book will be donated to the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups.CitySeen squeezed a little of his time to find out how the DreamWorks Animation franchise was progressing. Mr Hui said King Arthur would be incorporated into the new Shrek storyline."It [Shrek 3] is less a love story, and now about matters of family," said Hui. When Princess Fiona's (Cameron Diaz) father, the king (John Cleese) dies, Shrek, who does not want to be king, and the princess search for a new monarch and find cousin "Artie" (Justin Timberlake, Diaz' boyfriend). However, rumours have been circulating that DreamWorks executives were unimpressed with Timberlake's readings and wanted to dump him. Hui said the rumours were not true: "He [Timberlake] is very nice, creative, funny and fantastic. In fact, he adds something to the movie."
